Urban Nature Indexes
In January 2021, the IUCN Urban Alliance selected UBHub to develop their new Urban Nature Indexes (UNI) tool for local governments to measure their impact on biodiversity in a comprehensive, flexible, and science-based way. The UBHub consultancy team, Pablo Arturo Lopez-Guijosa, Jennifer Rae Pierce, Michael Halder and Mika Tan, delivered this new and comprehensive index for urban nature which has been adopted into IUCN’s Marseille Manifesto as one of its major goals for 2030. IUCN launched the UNI digital platform in 2023, a product of a collaboration between IUCN, UNEP-WCMC, and UBHub.
